Upcoming Grant Deadlines

Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) grant application deadlines as of 9/28/23.

 

  1. Reconnecting Communities (BIL) and Neighborhood Grant Program (IRA)
    • Due Date: September 28, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: State, and local governments, Tribal nations, facility owners, non-profits, and higher education institutions in partnership
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: The Reconnecting Communities Pilot program and the Neighborhood Access and Equity Program are being combined into one application. Entities should put forward projects that meet both requirements to be considered for both. Both programs can fund projects that improve transportation for disadvantaged communities, including safe and affordable transportation.
  2. USDA Powering Affordable Clean Energy (PACE) program (IRA)
    • Due Date: September 29, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: States, corporations, municipalities, utility districts, non-profits, cooperatives, and others that generate electricity for resale to residents with at least 50% of the population served in communities with populations of 20,000 or fewer
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Projects that make clean energy more affordable for rural Americans. 
  3. Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Technical Assistance (BIL)
    • Due Date: September 29, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: Higher education, non-profits
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Technical assistance for environmental justice projects in EPA Region 1 (Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and 10 federally recognized Tribes).
  4. State-Based Home Energy Efficiency Contractor Training (IRA)
    • Due Date: September 30, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: States and territories
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Projects that develop and implement a state workforce energy program that prepares workers to deliver energy efficiency, electrification, and clean energy improvements.
  5. Domestic Manufacturing Conversion Grants (IRA)
    • Due Date: October 2, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: State and local governments, Tribal nations, higher education, for-profit and non-profit entities
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: automotive manufacturing conversion projects that retain high-quality jobs in communities that currently host these manufacturing facilities.
  6. Recompete Pilot Program (CHIPS)
    • Due Date: October 5, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: State and local governments, Tribal nations, and economic development districts
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Economic development in economically distressed communities. 
  7. Pilot Program for Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Planning 
    • Due Date: October 10, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: FTA Grantee projects sponsors or entity with planning authority
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Transportation projects that improve ridership potential, foster multimodal connectivity and accessibility, improve transit access for pedestrian and bicycle traffic, and enable mixed-use development near transit stations.
  8. Tribal Climate Resilience Annual Awards Program (BIL, IRA)
    • Due Date: October 13, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: Federally Recognized Tribes
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Planning and implementation for projects that improve climate resilience for tribal communities. 
  9. Low-Income Communities Bonus Credit Program (IRA)
    • Due Date: Application opens October 19th, priority given to applications that apply within the first 30 days
    • Eligible Entities: State and local governments, Tribal Nations, for- and non-profit entities, and more 
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: low income 10-20% bonus for the investment tax credit to install solar or wind.
  10. Transmission Siting and Economic Development Grants (IRA)
    • Due Date: October 31, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: State and local governments, Tribal nations with permitting authority
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Activities that facilitate the siting and permitting of high voltage interstate or offshore electricity transmission lines.
  11. Critical Materials Innovation, Efficiency, and Alternatives (BIL)
    • Due Date: November 10, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: State and local governments, Tribal nations, higher education, for-profit and non-profit entities
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Research, development and demonstration (RD&D) that will support the building of robust, responsible, domestic critical mineral and material supply chain for clean energy technologies and to address national security needs.
  12. Electric Vehicle Charger Reliability and Accessibility Accelerator (BIL)
    • Due Date: November 13, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: State DOTs and local governments
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Repairing or replacing broken or non-operational EV charters to improve the reliability of existing EV charging infrastructure.
  13. Thriving Communities
    • Due Date: November 15, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: State and local governments, Tribal nations, MPOs
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: technical assistance, planning, and capacity building support to advance transportation activities that increase mobility, reduce pollution from transportation sources, expand affordable transportation and housing options, improve health outcomes, facilitate efficient land use, preserve or expand jobs, and improve connectivity for disadvantaged populations and communities. 
  14. Career Skills Training Program (BIL)
    • Due Date: November 27, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: Non-profit entities with partnership from industry, public or private employers, or labor organizations, etc.  
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Training for the purpose of obtaining an industry-related certification to install energy efficient buildings technologies.  
  15. Thriving Communities Capacity Builders
    • Due Date: November 28, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: Non-profit entities and other technical assistance providers, State and local governments, Tribal nations, MPOs
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: provide technical assistance, planning, and capacity building support that advances transformative infrastructure plans, projects, and processes primarily in disadvantaged communities.
  16. Consumer Electronics Battery Recycling, Reprocessing, and Battery Collection (BIL)
    • Due Date: November 29, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: Individuals, higher education, for-profit and non-profit entities, state and local government entities, and Tribal nations
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Support the recycling of consumer electronics batteries and battery-containing devices to bolster the domestic critical material supply chain for EV batteries.
  17. Climate Ready Workforce (IRA)
    • Due Date: LOI by November 30, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: State and local governments, Tribal nations, non-profits, associations, and higher education
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Workforce development, training, and recruitment for good-paying jobs that enhance climate resilience. 
  18. Climate Pollution Reduction Grants Implementation Grants (IRA)
    • Due Date: April 1, 2024
    • Eligible Entities: States, tribal nations and municipalities who received CPRG planning grants
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Implementation of ambitious measures that will achieve significant cumulative GHG reductions and will achieve community benefits.
