
Marty Spitzer
Senior Director of Climate and Energy, World Wildlife Fund
As a senior director of climate and renewable energy at WWF US, Marty leads WWF’s efforts to accelerate corporate action on climate and energy. He’s an innovator who championed the development of the Clean Energy Buyers Alliance, the Renewable Thermal Collaborative and the Science-based Targets Initiative. He was instrumental creating the AAA Policy Framework for Corporate Climate Leadership and “American Is All In,” a movement of over 3,000 businesses, mayors, governors, and higher education and faith leaders supporting US climate action.
Under Marty’s leadership, WWF’s global Climate Business Network shares best practices and the latest climate trends and issues. He works closely with dozens of Fortune 500 companies one-on-one to help them set and meet science-based GHG targets, advocate for ambitious climate policies, and navigate the complex corporate sustainability ecosystem. He has deep expertise in corporate greenhouse gas accounting, market mechanisms and corporate claims, which are critical to drive investment.
Marty has extensive federal legislative and executive branch experience. Before joining WWF in 2011, he served as Professional Staff on the Science Committee in the US House of Representatives, as Executive Director of the President’s Council on Sustainable Development at the White House, and in a variety of senior policy roles at the US Environmental Protection Agency.
Marty has a J.D. from the University of Buffalo Law School and a Ph.D. in Policy Management from the University of Buffalo School of Management. He serves on the CEBA and previously served on the Board of the ACS’s Green Chemistry Institute and in leadership roles in American Bar Association Committees.
