February 6, 2025America Is All In announced Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Cleveland Mayor Justin M. Bibb as its newest Co-Chairs. Governor Pritzker and Mayor Bibb will use their new roles with America Is All In to galvanize local climate action and provide a roadmap for cities, states, businesses, and institutions across the country to implement climate solutions that drive economic growth and job creation, mitigate the worst impacts of the climate crisis, and maintain the United States’ global commitments to climate action.

As Governor of Illinois and a member of the U.S. Climate Alliance, Governor JB Pritzker has prioritized growing the state’s clean energy economy and jobs while building a more sustainable future. The Governor has attracted new investments in the electric vehicle manufacturing sector, expanded wind and solar production, and doubled Illinois’ investments in renewable energy. In 2021, Governor Pritzker signed legislation to put Illinois on a path to 100% clean energy by 2050, committing the state to reducing emissions in line with the global Paris Agreement and cementing Illinois as a clean energy leader.

“We cannot be afraid to tell the truth: the climate crisis is real and we must tackle it with action that protects us from natural disasters and builds a strong clean energy economy with good-paying jobs. It’s clear that states like Illinois and cities, businesses, and institutions will be where climate action presses forward. I’m proud to be joining America Is All In as a Co-Chair to continue building a clean energy economy that works for all,” said Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, Co-Chair of America Is All In.

The first millennial Mayor of Cleveland, OH and a leader in implementing local climate initiatives, Mayor Justin M. Bibb has worked to advance key climate policies in Cleveland. Mayor Bibb launched a Low-to-Moderate Income Solar Program to broaden access to residential solar energy, passed a Complete and Green Streets ordinance to promote environmentally friendly transportation, and appointed the city’s first Director of Sustainability and Climate Justice. As former Chair of Climate Mayors, Bibb supported the launch of the coalition’s Electrify50 commitment to boost vehicle electrification nationwide and collaborated with federal partners while advocating for continued climate action and clean energy funding.

“Now is a pivotal moment to accelerate climate action, and U.S. cities like Cleveland are poised to lead the charge in combating climate change. Local city halls are where the real work of implementing ambitious and lasting climate policy happens. We will be the key to bringing good jobs and building thriving clean economies across the country. As an America Is All In Co-Chair, I will continue to drive forward the urban policies and projects that will boost the clean energy transition and build healthier, more equitable both communities in Cleveland and all U.S. cities,” said Cleveland Mayor Justin M. Bibb, Co-Chair of America Is All In.

Ambitious climate action at the local level is essential for building a prosperous and clean energy economy, securing good-paying jobs, and meeting our global climate commitments. Research from the University of Maryland’s Center for Global Sustainability shows that even with an absent federal government, increased action from U.S. cities, states, businesses, and local institutions can help the U.S. reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 54-62 percent by 2035 from 2005 levels – in line with the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) that the U.S. submitted in December 2024, targeting 61-66 percent greenhouse gas emissions reductions by 2035.

“Our new Co-Chairs are exactly the leaders we need in this moment; they are fighting every day to lower energy bills and grow jobs by delivering clean energy and creative climate solutions in Illinois and Ohio,” said America Is All In Managing Co-Chair Gina McCarthy. “I’m excited to collaborate with Governor Pritzker and Mayor Bibb to showcase the incredible work cities, states, businesses, and local groups are doing to create good-paying jobs, provide healthy and affordable energy, and protect the lives and livelihoods of the American people. Across our coalition, we are working tirelessly to ensure that clean, homegrown energy thrives and our communities receive the funding they need to lower energy costs, protect local jobs, and stop pollution.”
